The biggest limitation is equally straightforward. Alexa isn't supported, and the product isn't positioned as a substitute for strong white task lighting. Anyone expecting full voice control or a broad tunable-white specification may be better served by a different lighting format. Its strengths are aesthetic, flexible, and app-driven rather than centered on basic household illumination.

Installation also carries some responsibility. Poor surface preparation can weaken adhesion, visible mounting can expose harsh LED points, and dark walls can reduce the apparent intensity of the effects. None of those issues make the strip difficult to use, but they do mean setup quality affects the final look more than the color count suggests. A carefully positioned strip can feel integrated into the room, while a rushed installation can look temporary no matter how advanced the app is.

The most realistic use is as a decorative lighting layer that changes the atmosphere around a specific zone. It can add motion during music, richer gradients during gaming, or restrained color behind furniture on quieter nights. It won't replace a reading lamp or ceiling fixture, and it doesn't need to. Its value lies in giving an otherwise plain area a controllable wash of multicolor light without filling the room with extra fixtures.
